Since its opening in the Spring of 2013, Leatherfoot has come a long way from its humble beginnings. A small shop in the affluent Yorkville shopping district, Leatherfoot introduced Toronto to something we just never had - artisanally crafted shoes from world renowned makers. Through the past three years, change has been a dominating factor in Leatherfoot's growth - significantly altering Toronto's sartorial landscape and bringing the city onto the World's stage in such matters. Consistently offering a world class selection of artisanal products and expanding to offer accessories, leather goods, in-house bespoke tailoring and an upcoming in-house bespoke shoemaker truly makes this destination unique - not only among its peers in the city, but on a global scale.
What is most impressive is the new space the atelier has moved into, a beautiful Victorian mansion just a short walk from their previous location. The sanctity of the space has been preserved, with a minimalist modern touch making it extremely inviting and homely. The location does not immediately give the impression of being a maison haute couture, but the beautiful landscaped bay windows soak up the daylight to an expanse of sartorial delights - sure to make the most hurried pedestrian halt in admiration.
Outside of providing a high level of service to their patrons, Leatherfoot Emporium has taken an active lead in attracting world renowned menswear pundits, and hosting events filled with sartorial knowledge exchanges. So far, Simon Crompton of Permanent Style, and Hugo Jacomet & Sonya Glyn Nicholson of Parisian Gentleman have provided for evening discussions full of sartorial subject matter and book signings. Both have released books recently delving into the world of menswear, from the perspectives of craftsmen and taste-makers. Most of those who know G. Bruce Boyer are in for a treat, he will be visiting at the end of this month rounding out a wonderful series of events as part of Leatherfoot Emporium's launch. Not only has Leatherfoot enhanced this city's access to the finest in artisanal craftsmanship, it has become a lifestyle brand raising awareness through high caliber events and their creative approach to all things sartorial. They are this city's sartorial house of classic style and are building a sprezzatura of their own.
