Tassel loafers have an air of sophistication about them, something you should consider only at a certain age in your life. I couldn’t have been more wrong in this statement of mine. More and more shoemakers make these types of loafers adding their own style and touch to them. It wasn’t until I noticed a beautiful pair of suede ones worn by a good friend of mine that I truly began to appreciate their subtle elegance. He was wearing Alden’s in a brown suede, dressed down casually with a pair of jeans (shown in the photo below).
I discovered a very unique brand from Spain while looking for these type of loafers, Meermin Mallorca. A quick look on their website and I purchased a lovely pair of brown suede tassel loafers that caught my eye. Online shopping is always a risk and I suffered as the shoes were just too wide, a characteristic of the last more so than size.
A year later while traveling through Dubai, a beautiful brown leather pair from the Santos line by Carlos Santos caught my eye. A very well constructed shoe which happened to fit like a glove and looked fantastic. Lesson learned, try on the shoes in store and enjoy the experience.
