Summer officially starts on June 21st but the lead up to it represents a great opportunity to stock up on some much needed staples. What would one consider as staples? Denim shirts come to mind, although they're not necessarily cool enough for those hot days but the color just screams summer. Linen is another well worn fabric throughout the hot summer months. It's lightweight and has a more open weave compared to its counterparts allowing for increased breath-ability and wear-ability. Most get put off by its inability to keep a crisp look but that's what adds to the allure of wearing linen, that elegance in its inept look. Perfect for those walks on the beach or humid nights on the town.
More so than anything else, sunglasses make a dominant return to the outfits of many. Such a simple piece of hardware that easily transforms your face, for better or worse only time will tell. As with anything involving your face, it deserves the most investment. You put your best foot forward but your face always steals the show. Find frames that suit your shape and flatter your appearance. Lenses are equally important as they do all the work keeping those harmful rays at bay. Keep both facets in mind when shopping and try them on outdoors (on sunny days) if it all possible. The indoor purchase seems to draw on a more stylistic aspect rather than the functional use you'll need from them on a sunny day at the beach.
Lastly, hats. I wouldn't say there is a resurgence yet but there are definitely more being flaunted than in previous years. Not baseball caps but proper hats, something your grandfather probably wore along with his 3-piece pinstripe suit. Try some on, you'll be surprised how well the whole ensemble comes together with the hat on top.
