Trunk shows, pop-ups, exhibitions, and now we can add 'Kits' to that as well. The Proper Kit to be exact, aptly named thanks in large part to a collaboration between Style Forum and A and H Magazine. On a beautiful November day, a Pitti-esque style showcase of brands was organized for the sartorial audience in the big apple and we just couldn't miss the opportunity to be a part of this inaugural event. Many of us live vicariously through social media, and we forget how the physical and emotional connections can feel. The touch of a fabric, fit of a coat, warmth of a Shetland, reassurance of a tailor, second and third opinions. You get the point. In our constant quest to find brands, products and people which embody our ethos of 'Style that Speaks', we present you with a visual diary of our visit.
Pictures can only do so much justice, so allow us to elaborate a bit more. The atmosphere was welcoming, the mood cheerful and the conversations heartfelt. Passion of those present was palpable, and felt even more so from the brands and organizers who worked tirelessly to make the event a success. Each and every visit with the brands on hand was cherished and the products admired. Artisinaly crafted frames from TBD eyewear, a vast selection of shoes from various makers including Carmina, Cobbler Union and J. Fitzpatrick, and made-to-measure and ready-to-wear clothing from Beckett & Robb and No Man Walks Alone. Almost everything a man could possibly want, under one roof. Not to mention, special discounts and a group-buy MTO through Style Forum for Rider Boots.
"We brought Pitti to America" as A and H put it and although an early statement to make, the potential is certainly there. As short as it was, the show must go on. We wish the Proper Kit much success and look forward to their next stop. San Francisco perhaps?
